Paris Church Sees Success in Vacation Bible School Outreach
The Paris Church, Tenn., recently witnessed a powerful demonstration of community outreach during its Vacation Bible School (VBS), which drew participants from across the region. The church had been praying for the success of the event, with support extending from Maine to Tennessee.
The VBS began with high hopes, as over ten volunteers canvassed local neighborhoods, distributing copies of "Steps to Christ" along with flyers inviting families to attend. Despite these efforts, the first afternoon saw only five children in attendance.
However, the numbers steadily grew as the children who attended on the first day shared their positive experiences with siblings and friends. By the second afternoon, ten children attended, and by the third afternoon, twelve children were participating. Church members were encouraged by the increasing attendance, viewing it as a sign of God's blessing.
The children showed a deep interest in the Bible stories shared during VBS, which included lessons on Daniel, Joseph, David, and the fiery furnace. A recurring theme was emphasized: standing up for Jesus and honoring Him results in His honor in return. The children also learned about the Ten Commandments and the importance of obedience to them.
In total, 19 individuals, including children and adults, attended the VBS. Each child received an Explorer's New King James Version Bible, with 14 Bibles distributed along with daily Bible readings. The Paris Church credits the success of the VBS to the power of prayer and the presence of the Holy Spirit, which they believe was evident throughout the event.
