The women of the Kentucky-Tennessee Conference were blessed at this year’s annual fall retreats at Indian Creek Camp to have our very own Gail McKenzie as speaker. McKenzie has shared her inspirational messages for Women’s Retreats and engagements across the United States. After a year’s long battle with an aggressive breast cancer, it was time to bring her message home. With miraculous results on each step of her journey the theme “Ultimate Praise” was a natural choice. Approximately 350 women came out in support of McKenzie and to hear her motivating presentations.
There were many additional highlights of the retreat. Professional recording artist Naomi Striemer gave a concert which included her amazing story. Marilyn Carter led a team from the Bowling Green (Ky.) Church in a Sabbath afternoon program called “Fragrances of Praise.” Melissa Weisner led a session called “How to Start a Prayer Ministry in Your Church.” On Friday afternoon, early arrivals were able to enjoy various hands-on classes, boat rides, or a relaxing massage. Lounging in the Spa Room or the Fireplace Room was a favorite pastime throughout the weekend along with shopping at Nourish Christian Marketplace.
The ladies are always in awe of the transformation of the camp by our decorators, Kimberly King and Jennifer Vollmer. With the use of black and white with pops of color and numerous musical instruments, the stage was set for “Ultimate Praise”.
McKenzie used classic movie titles to highlight each session. Beginning with “Pride and Prejudice,” “Singing in the Rain,” and “Dances with Wolves,” she ended with the power of God’s “Love Story” shown from Genesis to Revelation. Several women renewed their relationship with God during the Sunday morning altar call, and one woman gave her heart to Jesus and wants to begin Bible studies. McKenzie has a burning desire for each woman to have a true picture of our Heavenly Father that begins and ends with “God is Love”!
